HHCC Hasler Marathon Race
21st September 2008
RESULTS HERE
Well done all - God fixed the weather and the club volunteers and paddlers fixed the rest. Tremendous effort and day!

- Another successful race – 108 paddlers
- Chris ‘Slasher’ Preston beaten by a Div 6 paddler, Stuart McIlhargy, who was so fast he was promoted to Div-3, where he can race against Slasher.
- Slight change of date from last year (4 weeks earlier) and this may have been why numbers were slightly down (no entries from Leaside and Chelmsford, and a much reduced entry from Norwich)
- Ran with very few hitches despite two of the key functions being undertaken by new crews (catering and results)
- A few HHCC entries, but it would be wonderful to have some more and this is the challenge for next year.
- Easy to forget the work done before the day, such as getting all the food and giving the club-house and changing rooms a ‘spring’ clean (this particularly is the sort of messy job that people avoid, so thanks to Shirine and Alan C)
- Other thanks – Catering – the Houston show, with help from Jan Potter. We hope that Sue Houston’s first experience of the club won’t be her last.
- Results – Martyn H, Alan F and Chris M – mastered it all from scratch and were completely calm
- Timing – Alan C as ever unflappable, with able support from Derek Sayell
- Marshalls – John Gavin, Tim Burtwell, Alan F’s friend and Erika Henson and Graham
- Filling-in gaps, keeping the organiser sane and other indepensable services – Andy P, John B, Chris P
- Taking a record of it all – Robin and Martin
